International District

The International District, extending from San Mateo to Wyoming, is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood, filled with residents from across the globe and restaurants serving cuisine from across the world as well. Recently, the historically dangerous Zuni Road has received complete streets treatments, slowing down automobile traffic and adding bike lanes. In addition, the International District Healthy Communities Coalition, a network of public health non-profits, is working closely with many stakeholders in this neighborhood. Overall, this is a complex area and, though it will be an ongoing challenge, more residents must be brought into the conversation about the changes happening on Central and become a part of its evolution.

Neighborhood associations within the International District include:

  • Fair West
  • La Mesa
  • South San Pedro
  • Trumbull Village
  • Elder Homestead
  • Siesta Hills

Albuquerque Rapid Transit stations in this area include:

  • San Mateo
  • San Pedro (future station)
  • Louisiana and Central – EXPO New Mexico
  • Louisiana and Lomas
  • Wyoming
